Happy New Year Resolution season!
Every January we set these lofty to-do lists for ourselves. Lose 300 pounds. Climb Mount Everest. Make 10 billion dollars overnight. We set ourselves up to either win big or fail miserably and every December we are bound to be disappointed. Resolutions can easily turn into regrets.
An actual clip of me reviewing my resolutions at the end of the year.
Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves? It could all be so simple, but we’d rather make it hard. Goals are good, but they’ll amount to nothing without God. If you want to get something done right, do it with God. Here’s a list of simple resolutions you can actually keep this year.
1. Put God First
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
2. Don’t Worry—Be Grateful
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
3. Humble Yourself
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
1 Peter 5:6 NLT
4. Get Your Mind Right
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8 NLT
5. Document Your Dreams and Visions
Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
6. Be Brave
This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NLT
I’m giving you a new commandment…to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
