As you make a list of all the things you want to do this year, have you considered the things God wants you to do? Have you considered God at all in your plans?
Moment of Truth: The best resolution you could ever make is to partner with God.
Why Do I Need to Partner with God?
God’s plans are guaranteed.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. -Proverbs 19:21
Working with God will be rewarding. The seeds will grow. The burden is light. Why waste your time making plans that may fall through when you have a guarantee with God? It’s a silly mistake we make time and time again. This is your chance, your brand new year, to do something different.
When you set out to do something without God, you are preparing to make a fool of yourself.
We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. -Proverbs 16:9
You are not in control. You do not have a say in the weather or the amount of traffic on the highway. You can plan to buy bread from the store, but God determines how you’ll get there, how long it takes you to get there, or if you’ll get there at all. The greatest control you have is self-control. So get yourself together and get God’s plan for your life. Humble yourself before God. He determines your day.
How Do I Partner with God?
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. -Matthew 6:33
Pursue righteousness. Get right with God. Study His Word and apply it to your life. If you do God’s work, He will take care of you. It really is that simple. There are times when it doesn’t feel so simple. Here’s where it gets complicated: In your partnership with God you may find that some of your old plans don’t line up with the path God has laid out for you. This is your moment of truth. This is your Pop Quiz in Righteousness. Can I give you some advice? Throw out your old plans. Throw them out. Start fresh with what the Lord provides. Think about it. Who would know better: you or the Creator of all good things?
